Tour to Chile: Curico and Maule Wine Routes

OVERVIEW
The Curico Valley is located at 194 km south of Santiago.  It is one of the mayor wine producers. It has also kept the folkloric tradition.  It has an area of 5951 hectares used for cultivating vines like Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Gewürtztraminer, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Riesling, Carmenere, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Semillon and Malbec.  This package has been designed to offer a tour around the vineyards, where you will be able to taste a variety of wines.

The del Maule Valley is famous for its vines and fruits. It is the capital of the del Maule region. You will be able to visit cultural, natural, and historic sites, like the O’Higginian and Arts Museum of Talca – where the document that declares the independence of Chile is kept – and the cultural town of Huilquilemu. You will also enjoy the delicious gastronomy of the area.

DETAILED PROGRAM

DAY 01: SANTIAGO – CURICO
Departure to visit two of the most prestigious vineyard valleys of Chile, known for the quality of there wines.  The first stop is Curico, located at 190 km south of Santiago, where we will arrive after two and a half hours. The city has 120.000 habitants, who have preserved the patrimonial roots of the “huasa” zone: Rodeo, national historic monuments like the Main Square and the San Francisco Church. There will be time for a coffee. Afterwards, a brief tour around the city.  The first winery will be Miguel Torres, 6 km away from the city. It was formed in 1979 and, after technique studies, the owners considered that the lands of the area are “the paradise of vineyards”. You will visit the vineyards, the winery, and the shop. Lunch at the winery’s restaurant. In the afternoon, back to the hotel in Curico.

DAY 02: CURICO – MOLINA – TALCA
Breakfast.  In the morning, trip towards the winery San Pedro, 10 km away. The history of this vineyard started in 1865, when the brothers Jose and Bonifacio Correa Albano funded it.  The vines they cultivate are: Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Carmenere, Malbec, Syrah and Semillon. Guided visit through the vineyards, the winery and the shop.

Afterwards, the tour continues for 45 minutes towards Talca, the capital city of the region, with a population of 240.000.  Accommodation at the hotel.

In the afternoon, a visit to the vineyards Domaine Oriental or Casa Donoso, located at the east of Talca.  Initiating in 1900, at first they used the traditional methods for wine production but nowadays they have incorporated technology.  Tour around the vineyards, the wineries and the shops. Afterwards, trip towards the south to visit the vineyard Balduzzi.  This place has beautiful parks, gardens, and a shop. In the afternoon, return to Talca.

DAY 03: TALCA – SANTIAGO
Free time in the morning.
Transport to the train station heading towards Santiago. Accommodation in first class.
