Tour to Chile: Discovering el Maule Wine Route

OVERVIEW
The region of El Maule is known for the natural landscapes which attract many tourists, as well as its traditions, gastronomy, vineyards, etc.  Curico, Chile’s wine capital, offers an important celebration: La Vendimia.  This trip will take you through lakes, rivers, flora and fauna, that will become an unforgettable experience.  You will enjoy the excellent gastronomy, the local birds, a conversation with craftsmen and finally visit a private reserve in the middle of the Andes mountain range.

DETAILED PROGRAM

DAY 01: CURICO / VINEYARDS
Excursion 190 km south of Santiago towards the city of Curico, known for the prestige of its fruits and wines. Accommodation at the hotel.

Visit to the vineyard Miguel Torres, 06 km away from the city.  It was inaugurated in 1979 and, after technological studies, the owners consider it the “paradise of vineyards”.  A brief tour to its vineyards, wineries and shop. Included lunch at the winery’s restaurant.

Afterwards, a visit to the vineyard San Pedro, located next to Molina.  The history of this vineyard started in 1865 when Jose and Bonifacio Correa Albano founded it. Among the vines you will find:  Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Carmenere, Malbec, Syrah, and Semillon. Guided visit to the vineyards, wineries and shops.

DAY 02: CURICO / LAKE TORCA / VICHUQUEN / DUAO
Excursion to visit lake Torca, 135 km away from Curico, where you can watch black necked swans in their natural habitat.  Afterwards, you will visit the town of Vichuquen and Aquelarre, which preserves typical Spanish colonial architectures and traditional customs like the gastronomy and the crafts.  Later, trip towards Duao, a beach town known for the delicious seafood.  Lunch included.

Free time to enjoy the beach. Accommodation at a hotel in front of the Pacific Ocean.

DAY 03: CURICO / COLBUN / QUINAMAVIDA / RARI / TOBA STONE
Excursion of 139 km south towards Colbun, an interesting town where you can visit the Museum of Art and walk through the streets. You will be able to watch the adobe houses.  Afterwards, trip to Quinamavida, a rural area where you will meet some women knitting sheep wool. When you arrive at the Hotel Termas of Quinamavida, you will enjoy a thermal bath. Lunch at the hotel. In the afternoon, a visit to a Toba stone crafts shop, which amaze with the high quality of the ornaments they produce.  Later, a visit to the country house Rari, known around the world for its crafts made of wool and vegetables.

Back to the hotel.

DAY 04: QUINAMAVIDA
Free day to enjoy the gardens and thermal water pools of the hotel.
Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

DAY 05: QUINAMAVIDA / CURICO / SANTIAGO
Early in the morning, trip back to Santiago.
Lunch at Curico.
Arrival at Santiago, transport to hotel or airport.
