DETAILED PROGRAM

 

DAY 01: MEXICO CITY

Reception and transport to the hotel. By regulation, the bedrooms are handed over at 1 p.m. Free Day.

 

DAY 02: MEXICO – BASILICA OF GUADALUPE – PYRAMIDS OF TEOTIHUACAN

Transport to the Basilica of the Virgin of Guadalupe. Time to visit and pray at the shrine, where the painting of the virgin is kept. Afterwards, the tour continues towards the archeological site of Teotihuacan, also known as the City of the Gods. Upon arrival, the guide will take us to the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon.  We will also visit the pottery factory. Finally, we will return to Mexico with a previous stop at the famous Garibaldi Plaza, where we will enjoy a panoramic view. Includes lunch without beverages.

DAY 03: MEXICO CITY – XOCHIMILCO – MUSEUM OF FRIDA KAHLO

Panoramic tour by the ancient and modern streets of the Mexican capital, like La Reforma Avenue, until we reach the historical center, where we will find the cathedral and the national palace. We will also visit the remains of the ancient Tenochtitlan (the Azteca capital) as well as the palace of beaux arts and other important buildings. Afterwards, we will go by the Insurgentes Avenue (the longest in America), where we will see the bull ring (the largest in the world), the theatre Los Insurgentes with its mural paintings, until we reach the University City (UNAM). Afterwards, we will arrive at Xochimilco, also known as the “Venice of America” due to its canals, which we will sail on a “trajinera” (typical boat). Finally, we will return with a previous stop at Coyoacan, where we will visit the house of Frida Kahlo, now a museum. Back to the hotel. Includes lunch without beverages. Free afternoon.

DAY 04: MEXICO – CHOLULA – PUEBLA – OAXACA

We will visit the archeological site of Cholula to watch the biggest pyramid of America. Afterwards, we will visit Puebla, considered by the UNESCO a World Heritage; where we will visit the cathedral, the main square with other churches. Finally, we will visit the chapel del Rosario.

 

DAY 05: OAXACA – MONTE ALBAN – ALEBRIJES – CUILAPAM DE GUERRERO – SAN BARTOLO COYOTEPEC

Tour towards the archeological site of Monte Alban. Afterwards, we will visit the villa of Arrazola Xoxo to observe a demonstration of the elaboration of “alebrijes”. We continue with a visit to the ex-Convent of Cuilapam de Guerrero and finally end the tour with a visit to the villa of San Bartolo Coyotepec, to see a demonstration of the elaboration of the famous black clay. Lunch included in the route.

DAY 06: OAXACA – DEL TULE TREE – TEOTITLAN DEL VALLE – ARCHEOLOGICAL SITE OF MITLA

Included breakfast. We leave from Oaxaca to visit “del Tule” tree, Teotitlan del Valle and the archeological site of Mitla (lunch included). We then return to the hotel. At night we will be picked up for a night trip towards the capital of the state of Chiapas, arriving at the morning of the next day. Overnight in the bus.

 

DAY 07: TUXTLA GUTIERREZ – DEL SUMIDERO CANYON – SAN CRISTOBAL DE LAS CASAS

Arrival at the terminal of Tuxtla Gutierrez and transport to “del Sumidero” canyon to sail on boat between the cliffs of 1,000 meters high. Finally, we will go to San Cristobal de las Casas and rest in a hotel.

DAY 08: SAN CRISTOBAL DE LAS CASAS – TOUR AROUND THE CITY AND NATIVE COMMUNITIES

Transport to the caves of Rancho Nuevo and then to the native communities of Zinacantan, San Juan Chamula and afterwards to the city San Cristobal de las Casas, where we will visit the colonial churches. This colonial style is expressed in the Cathedral, the temple and ex-convent Santo Domingo, or the temple El Carmen. The neoclassical style (XVII century) is expressed in the municipal palace. These buildings preserve a glorious past and in combination with the baroque style of Los Altos Chiapas, shows the mixed race culture.

DAY 09: SAN CRISTOBAL – MISOL HA – AGUA AZUL – PALENQUE

Early in the morning we will go towards Ocosingo, where breakfast will be served. Afterwards, we will visit the cascades of Misol Ha and Agua Azul. Finally, we will go to the mythical Mayan city of Palenque. This city, which lies on the jungle, is the most important mystery of the Mayas, because many drawings resemble those of the Hindu culture. We will then return to the hotel.

DAY 10: PALENQUE – UXMAL – MERIDA

We will travel by highway to the legendary Mayan city of Uxmal, in the peninsula of Yucatan. At Uxmal we will be delighted by the great pyramid of the fortune-teller and the temple of the governor. We will finally go to Merida, the capital of Yucatan.

 

DAY 11: MERIDA

This day we will do a small tour around the semi-European city of Merida, where its avenue Paseo de Montejo has a similar style like the Champs Elysees of Paris. The Cathedral has the tallest towers of America. In the afternoon you are free to walk on your own. Among the places you can visit are the handicraft market or some bar where you can enjoy boleros.

DAY 12: MERIDA – CHICHEN ITZA – CANCUN

This day we will travel to meet the 7th wonder of Mexico: the pyramid of Kukulkan and the amazing Mayan city of Chichen Itza. We will visit the temples, the observatory, and the well. Lunch included. Finally, you will travel to Cancun, where everything is included.

Included meals: Breakfast, lunch & dinner.

 

DAY 13: CANCUN

Free day to enjoy your all included hotel. We suggest a visit to the islands (US$ 60).

DAY 14: CANCUN

Free day to enjoy your all included hotel.

DAY 15: CANCUN

All included. Transport to the airport.
