DETAILED PROGRAM

 

DAY 01: MEXICO CITY

Reception at the airport, assistance and transport to the hotel. By regulation, rooms are handed over at 1 p.m. Free time for personal activities.

 

DAY 02: BASILICA OF GUADALUPE & PYRAMIDS OF TEOTIHUACAN

At 9 a.m., transport to the Basilica of the Virgin of Guadalupe. Time to visit and pray at the shrine, where the painting of the virgin is kept. Afterwards, the tour continues towards the archeological site of Teotihuacan, also known as the City of the Gods. Upon arrival, the guide will take us to the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon.  We will also visit the pottery factory. Finally, we will return to Mexico with a previous stop at the famous Garibaldi Plaza, where we will enjoy a panoramic view. Includes lunch without beverages.

DAY 03: MEXICO – XOCHIMILCO – MUSEUM OF FRIDA KAHLO

Panoramic tour by the ancient and modern streets of the Mexican capital, like La Reforma Avenue, until we reach the historical center, where we will find the cathedral and the national palace. We will also visit the remains of the ancient Tenochtitlan (the Azteca capital) as well as the palace of beaux arts and other important buildings. Afterwards, we will go by the Insurgentes Avenue (the longest in America), where we will see the bull ring (the largest in the world), the theatre Los Insurgentes with its mural paintings, until we reach the University City (UNAM). Afterwards, we will arrive at Xochimilco, also known as the “Venice of America” due to its canals, which we will sail on a “trajinera” (typical boat). Finally, we will return with a previous stop at Coyoacan, where we will visit the house of Frida Kahlo, now a museum. Back to the hotel. Includes lunch without beverages. Free afternoon.

DAY 04: PUEBLA – CHOLULA

We will visit the archeological site of Cholula to watch the biggest pyramid of America. Afterwards, we will visit Puebla, considered by the UNESCO a World Heritage; where we will visit the cathedral, the main square with other churches. Finally, we will visit the chapel del Rosario. In the afternoon, we will return to the hotel in Mexico. Includes lunch without beverages.

DAY 05: PUEBLA – OAXACA

Arrival at the city of Oaxaca and transport to the hotel. City tour around the historical center.

DAY 06: MONTE ALBAN, ALEBRIJES-CUILAPAM DE GUERRERO-SAN BARTOLO COYOTEPEC

Tour towards the archeological site of Monte Alban. Afterwards, we will visit the villa of Arrazola Xoxo to observe a demonstration of the elaboration of “alebrijes”. We continue with a visit to the ex-Convent of Cuilapam de Guerrero and finally end the tour with a visit to the villa of San Bartolo Coyotepec, to see a demonstration of the elaboration of the famous black clay. Lunch included in the route.

DAY 07: GUELATAO – IXTLAN DE JUAREZ – CAPULALPAM DE MENDEZ (MAGIC TOWN) – CAVES OF CAPULALPAM – CABINS

Trip towards San Pablo Guelatao, famous for being the birth-town of the Hero of America, Don Benito Juarez. We will walk along the lake and see how people lived in those times. We will continue to visit Ixtlan de Juarez, a villa located in the Sierra, and visit the majestic XVIIIth century church and its wonderful Baroque-style altarpieces. Afterwards, we will have lunch at the restaurant of the community of Capulalpam de Mendez (magic town), where we will eat the delicious “rainbow” trout or taste a mescal. If you like Tyrolese you will have the opportunity to do it in this place. In the afternoon, we will accommodate at the cabins of Capulalpam and visit the caves. Overnight at the cabins.

DAY 08: CAPULALPAM DE MENDEZ – TREE OF TULE, TEOTITLAN DEL VALLE – ARCHEOLOGICAL SITE OF MITLA

Breakfast in Capulalpam and afterwards we will return to the city of Oaxaca, to visit the tree of Tule, Teotitlan del Valle and the archeological site of Mitla (lunch included in the route). Back to hotel.

DAY 09: OAXACA – DOMINICA ROUTE – ANHUITLANTEPOSCOLULA –OIXTLAHUACA – OAXACA

After breakfast, we will begin a tour of approximately 2 – 2.30 hrs. towards the Dominica route. The greatness of Oaxaca is not reduced to its capital. The nearby towns have archeological sites, colonial buildings, museums, artisans. We will visit the Dominica route where we will admire magnificent constructions of the XVIth century, as well as landscapes and villas. Included meal in the route. Finally, we will return to the city of Oaxaca.

DAY 10: OAXACA – MEXICO

Transport to the bus station of Oaxaca to return back to Mexico. Transport to airport.
