Tour to Peru: Machu Picchu & Orchids

ABOUT THE TOUR

Machu Picchu & Orchids provides the opportunity to explore Peruvian sites known for their variety of wild orchids; if you are the kind of person who loves flowers this is definitely the best trip for you!  On this tour you will be able to visit not only the attractive sites of colonial Lima and the classic ruins of Cusco and Machu Picchu, but also Peru’s great variety of orchids in their natural habitat.

PROGRAM DETAILS

DAY 01: LIMA

Reception and assistance at the airport.  Transport to hotel.

We will attend to you from the moment you arrive at Lima, with MPS Journey personnel to greet you and take you to your hotel.

DAY 02: LIMA / SANTA CLARA

We will take you to Santa Clara, where you will be able to see a great variety of orchids, as well as the laboratory of propagation.  You will receive information about orchids.

DAY 03: LIMA / CUSCO

In the morning we will take you to the airport, where you will aboard an airplane towards Cusco.  You will have a free morning to acclimatize to the altitude of the city.

In the afternoon begins the city tour. You will visit the Main Square, the Cathedral, Santo Domingo monastery and the nearby ruins of Kenk, Puka Pukara, Tambomachay and the Sacsayhuaman fortress. Return to the hotel where you will enjoy a massage.

DAY 04: MACHU PICCHU

To go to Machu Picchu you will travel by train in Hiram Bingham train, from which you will enjoy the impressive landscape.  We guarantee it will be an unforgettable experience, in which you will visit Machu Picchu accompanied by a professional guide who will transmit you the history of this mysterious imperial city. We will take you to your hotel, where you will enjoy a relaxing massage.

DAY 05: MACHU PICCHU

In the morning you will go hiking with a specialist who will tell you about the project to rescue bears.  You will also visit the tea plantations.

You will also go with a guide to view the orchids in this ‘Lost city of the Incas’.  This place has 372 species of orchids, the largest in the world. You will enjoy the orchids in their best season and in their natural habitat, called the wood of clouds.

Finally, you will enjoy a meal in the hotel’s restaurant with the view of the Vilcanota river and the wood of clouds.

DAY 06: CUSCO / LIMA

We will take you to the airport where you will aboard an airplane towards Lima. Once you arrive at Lima, we will take you to your hotel.  You will the visit the bohemian district of Barranco, where you will go to the studio of Alfredo Alcalde, an artist known for his paintings of landscapes and human expressions.

You will also visit a jewelry shop, where you will find jewels of every Peruvian culture.

Finally, we will offer you a farewell dinner.

DAY 07: LIMA

We will take you to the airport, where you will aboard an airplane back to your country.
