Tour to Chile: Train Towards Southern Chile

OVERVIEW

To depart from Santiago in a train, passing by beautiful valleys in central Chile, is, without a doubt, an excellent choice to enjoy the landscapes and learn why Chile has become an exporter of high quality vines.

When arriving at Curico, Chile’s wine capital, the journey becomes a visit to the valleys where the delicious vine is produced.

At Pucon, the most important touristic town of Chile, you will be delighted by the snowy mountains and by the Lake Villarrica.

Finally, the Region of the Lakes, Puerto Varas and Puerto Montt will amuse with the landscapes and sunsets.

 

DETAILED PROGRAM

 

DAY 01: SANTIAGO – CURICO – WINE ROUTE
Transport to the Central Station, to board a train that will take you to Curico after 2 hours and 10 minutes of voyage. Upon arrival, reception and transport to hotel.

The first stop will be at the vineyard Miguel Torres, at 6 km from the city, that, since 1979, is considered “the paradise of vineyards”.  Tour around the winery. Lunch included in the vineyard’s restaurant.

Next stop will be vineyard San Pedro, located next to Molina. The history of this winery begins when in 1865 Jose and Bonifacio Correa Albano founded it with the commitment of elaborating high quality wines. Among the vines are: Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Carmenere, Malbec, Syrah and Semillon.

Finally, a visit to the vineyard Puertas, which has won a variety of prices in Europe.

DAY 02: CURICO – TALCA – PUCON
After breakfast, transport to the train station to travel towards Talca, a city that has preserved many Chilean traditions and high quality vineyards. Reception and transport to visit vineyard Casa Donoso, where wines are produced with traditional vines.  Afterwards, journey towards Pucon, the most important touristic town of Chile.

DAY 03: PUCON – CABURGA
In the morning excursion to visit lake Caburga and the “eyes of Caburga”, big pools with emerald colored water in middle of beautiful forests. Afterwards, visit to the market of Pucon. Lunch by your own. In the afternoon, excursion to the thermals of Huife and Palguin. Back to hotel.

DAY 04: PUCON
In the morning, transport to Villarica, to visit its streets, docks and markets. Back to Pucon. Transport to the beach of lake Villarica. Back to hotel.

DAY 05: PUCON – PUERTO VARAS – PUERTO MONTT
In the morning, journey by the Pan American highways towards Puerto Montt, located at 332 km south of Pucon.  After 3.5 hours, we will arrive and go to the hotel.  In the afternoon, tour around the city in front of the Pacific Ocean, where you will be delighted by the sea food. Tour around the streets and avenues, and to the gastronomic market of Angelmo. Afterwards, trip to Puerto Varas, nicknamed the “city of the roses”, with beautiful gardens on every street, located next to lake Llanquihue and with a view of the Osorno volcano.

DAY 06: PUERTO VARAS – CHILOE ISLAND
In the morning excursion towards Chiloe, where people have preserved the traditions of their ancestors: fishermen and farmers. We will travel 90 km by the Pan American Highway from Puerto Montt to Pargua, where we will aboard a boat that will take us through the channel Chacao in 30 minutes. Arrival at Chacao and trip towards Ancud, where we will visit the museum of Chiloe. We then go towards Castro, capital of the island, where we will see the houses made of wood above the sea, and the market Castro. In the afternoon, journey back to Puerto Varas.

DAY 07: PUERTO VARAS – PETROHUE
Excursion to Petrohue by the road that goes along the lake Llanquihue, passing by the river Pescado, Port Arthur and Los Riscos, until we reach Ensenada.  Visit to the waterfalls of river Petrohue. Brief walk around the place to enjoy the beauty of the environment. Finally, trip to lake Todos los Santos.
Typical lunch included. Back to hotel.

DAY 08: PUERTO VARAS – FRUTILLAR
Free morning to visit the town and taste a good coffee or a dessert.  In the afternoon, excursion to visit the other side of lake Llanquihue: Frutillar, a town with an evident German influence. The architecture is based on the native wood. It is also famous for its Musical Weeks.
Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch.

DAY 09: PUERTO VARAS – SANTIAGO
Transport to the airport to fly back to Santiago. Reception at Santiago, assistance and transport to the hotel.
